NEWMARK ART PROGRAM

Newmark offers classes with creative projects to support student literacy by encouraging self-expression through the elements of art and principals of design. Students gain mastery of artistic skills and techniques with project-based learning which is process oriented and grounded in studio practice.

WEBSITE DESIGN PROJECT

In the fall semester the visual art elective class, students learned about the graphic design industry and visual communication techniques. The project allowed students to engage their entrepreneurial spirit through working in small groups to form a design firm.  This required the students to collaborate in order to write vision, mission and values statements for their company.

Students learned how to create a design brief, develop a design strategy, and publish a website design to meet specific client needs. Acting as independent designers working within a partnership, the project provided the students perspective on graphic design as a career possibility and offered a learning experience with relevance in the real world.
